Thank you for your interest in completing College Alc. This comprehensive online alcohol course uses the latest research on college student drinking and will help prepare our students for a healthy and successful Elon experience. Student leaders and parents will find the content of this course useful as they work with and have discussions with their student(s) on making decisions and managing issues related to alcohol use while in college. The impact of parents and peers on students� attitudes and decisions about alcohol use is very clear. First year students are significantly less likely to engage in high-risk drinking and related consequences when parents and peers talk with them about the risks of alcohol use and strongly discourage excessive drinking.

The College Alc course is designed to give the student a better understanding of the importance of making responsible choices. The course is designed to help those who consume alcohol to better understand how to avoid serious consequences, handle alcohol-related emergencies, and help others who struggle with alcohol misuse. The course consists of four lessons that take approximately 20 to 30 minutes each to complete. If you are not able to complete a lesson in one sitting, you may close the browser and return later; any responses you have entered will be saved. Again, we are confident completing this course will be instructive for you personally and better prepare you to support your student(s)�s preparation for a healthy Elon experience.

Getting Started
Step 1: For PC Users, use Internet Explorer 6.0 Service Pack 2 or higher. For Mac users, use Safari 1.2 or higher.

Step 2: Install (or reinstall) Macromedia Flash 8 on the Internet Explorer browser or Macromedia Flash 8 on the Safari browser.

Step 3: Turn off ALL popup blockers in your browser as well as any search engine pop-up blockers (e.g., Yahoo) and any virus scan software (e.g., McAfee).

Step 4: If you are a new user, click on To register for College Alc, click here. Complete the registration form using your new Elon email address as your username. Parents can use their personal email address to register. Your password must be a minimum of 6 characters.

Step 5: Once you log on to the system, click on the College Alc program under the Course Catalog. For more details on the College Alc course, click on the Details icon.

Step 6: To access the course, click on the Go icon.

Step 7: Follow the instructions to take the confidential precourse survey and complete the course.
